Fleet Week is Here!

So i just finished watching a SATC rerun of the “Anchors Away” episode which was on tonight and it reminded me that it is officially the beginning of Fleet Week here in NYC. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Fleet Week, i’ll give you a brief rundown. It began in 1984, specifically to honor those in the U.S Navy and Marine Corps. During this week, there are so many events and public tours where you can visit the ships near the Piers and Harbor. Us ladies love Fleet Week because I mean who doesn’t like seeing a man in uniform 😉 . This week is perfect to check out some of the events that are going on for fleet week since Memorial day is also this weekend and we cant forget the most anticipated and awaited movie of the summer, Sex and the City 2 !! So go out and enjoy all the fun things the Big Apple has to offer, the weather will be beautiful, heard we are expecting temperatures in the 90s. And who knows, you might just find yourself swooned by a sexy Sailor!

Short of the Week- Five Feet High & Rising

A short by Peter Sollet which was the winner of the Short Filmmaking Award at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. If you haven’t seen Raising Victor Vargas, this was the backdrop for that movie. Its the story of a 12 yr old boy named Victor who is growing up in the Lower East Side and going through different experiences.  You may recognize Victor because he stars in the recent HBO show “How to Make it in America.” as Cameron “Cam” Calderon.  They also just picked up Season 2, which I definitely will be watching!

I Pay Homage to the Best of em’ like Christopher Wallace

Can you believe 12 years ago today, Hip Hop lost one of the Greatest.
Biggies music still lives on and his legacy was carried on this year with the release of the biopic Notorious.
Here’s the two letter to BIG songs from Jadakiss and the other from Lil Cease.
Jadakiss’ Letter to BIG is featured in the album The Last Kiss which was scheduled to release tomorrow but is pushed back till April 7th.

As we celebrate his life, naturally, Hot 97 will have the station on lock playing Biggie throughout the day.
