She’s been gone for a minute, but now URB has announced that she will be headlining the Rock the Bells tour 2010. How did Guerilla Union do it? Anywho, Being the main act, she’ll most likely be performing The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill which is one of my favorite albums of all time. I really hope her voice is still in tact because I’d definitely love to see her live.
UPDATE: According to founder of Rock the Bells, Chang Weisberg, he mentioned in his press conference yesterday that he & his camp did reach out to Lauryn Hill, but it wasn’t fully through. *sigh* We could all hope right? But what was definitely confirmed was that the rest of the artists will be performing their classics.

The official video for the single “As We Enter” off the highly anticipated album Distant Relatives, which is set to release on May 18th. Nas and Damian Marley are also touring this year and holding a concert at the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn.
For the lover in you, Teedra Moses dropped her mixtape today “Royal Patience Compilation, a love journey….” If you haven’t heard of her, she’s an r&b/soul singer songwriter from New Orleans who’s written songs for Mary J, Trina and collaborated with the likes of Jadakiss and Raphael Saadiq. She has released two albums “Complex Simplicity” and “The Young Lioness.” Both great albums, highly slept on, and perhaps one of the most underrated artists I’ve come across. Happy Valentines Day!
Keeping it on the topic of Love, this new video by Joell Ortiz ft Novel “Call Me” retracts back to the 90’s with a teenage love captured completely by Rik Cordero (Three/21 Media). The Gold hoop earrings, Tommy Shirts and Smart Beepers just give it that old school vibe. An Al Green sampling joint, Joell Ortiz reminisces about his first love with a lyrical narrative that tells the story of a young love gone sour by gossip. This is his first single off the album Free Agent which is due out in late March. Yaowa!!!
Can you believe 12 years ago today, Hip Hop lost one of the Greatest.
Biggies music still lives on and his legacy was carried on this year with the release of the biopic Notorious.
Here’s the two letter to BIG songs from Jadakiss and the other from Lil Cease.
Jadakiss’ Letter to BIG is featured in the album The Last Kiss which was scheduled to release tomorrow but is pushed back till April 7th.
As we celebrate his life, naturally, Hot 97 will have the station on lock playing Biggie throughout the day.
Long Live Dilla!
I’m really glad Shepard Fairey along with hip hop scholar Brian B+ Cross both collaborated on this Jay Dee print to benefit Dillas Mom, Maureen Yancey who’s suffering from lupus, the exact illness that took her son.
J Dilla is regarded as one of the greatest producers of all time, dubbed “your favorite producer’s favorite producer,” who worked with artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, Pete Rock, Pharcyde, Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu, the list goes on. He impacted the hip hop community and influenced many with his neo-soul sound that still resonates today & will continue to live on.
Shepard Fairey :
“J Dilla was a great music producer who died of lupus. Now his mom has lupus and needs help with her medical bills. This collaborative poster with B+ will benefit Dilla’s mom ‘Ma Dukes.’ There is a benefit concert as well. Please support ‘Ma Dukes.’”
Raise it Up For Ma Dukes!
